| Something About Eddie Lim Eddie was already delving earnestly into the abstract at an early age; he would call them scribblings. When one encounters his works, one is reminded of a twilight zone quotation; one in particular among many, so when you treat your senses with his works, “You unlock a door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension – a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas.” Eddie has always espoused to the idea that art is an individual interpretation and allows others to deduce the meaning of his paintings whenever possible, as he feels different minds perceive things differently. He believes that painting is a truly free form of expression without any borders and perceptions. As a painter Eddie’s style is still evolving as he experiments with various forms and techniques. To him it is a journey of endless learning. As of now his works are being collected by friends and art enthusiasts in Malaysia, the U.S., Germany, Korea, Singapore and Australia. Eddie has been a designer, art director and professional freelance illustrator for local and international publishers. He started painting seriously a few years ago due to professional constraints. The artist is represented by Art Galleries in Malaysia and has also participated in exhibitions with artists from Malaysia and other countries. Born in 1958, he is life member of The National Art Gallery of Malaysia. Eddie studied Advanced Counselling and Child Psychology. |
