| Something About Freddie Du Plessis Art is truly a passion. The eternal search for true freedom, creation and beauty, it is the closest that man can ever be to God. Every artwork is a spiritual journey into the mysteries of the soul, every work a child of the artists soul. I have chosen graphic design as a career, not because fine art is inferior, but mainly because true art can never be sold. Another reason is because when art is sold to make a living you have to create art for the people, which as far as I am concerned is akin to prostitution. Is it art? is a question that is asked a lot, to me art is not paint on a canvas, or technical skill, but it is using your chosen medium to instill the untouchable into the canvas. If it does happen that people buy my art that is made for arts sake and not money, then I would sell and make a career of it, but I would not even consider in changing it for the sole purpose of making money. It would be a dream come true, but I would not prostitute my paintings to make that dream come true. To me, art is communication, the act of creating something which will convey what no human language ever can. I am still currently a student, and my work still has a lot to grow, but it is my one true passion. That is why I would like to be a part of your society, for our journey on this earth is education, and wherever I can learn I join, and your group seems that it is a source of inspiration and learning. |
